New Books Rearranged

Hi guys,

I’ve recently managed to get my hands on a lot of medical books in electronic form. I’ve posted up some previously but I’ll post them up again, this time arranged in the order of the year you’ll be needing them.

New Contribution

Thanks to weeks, I can now add the Path Anat lecture slides for the 2nd Colloquium.

Grab it here.

Path Anat 2nd Sem Q&A

Hi guys,

Please to inform that the Q&A is prepared, finally. Thanks to Shu Shien and her groupmates. I haven’t proof-read all of them, but it’s nicely arranged by the current format.

Here it is: Path Anat 2nd Sem Q&A

Happy studying.

Got some help from you!

Thanks to Shu Shien, we’ve got some corrections/additional questions for the infamous Path Anat. While this subject is pretty dodgy, we’ve been dodging it alright. Thanks to seniors, and now you guys. So here are the contributions from Shu Shien:

Unit 8
Unit 9
Unit 10
Unit 12
Unit 13

Currently there is another (Unit 13) but she’s correcting. And I believe she’s got something else up her sleeve too… so watch out!

Thanks again.

Some more facts about Path Anat Exam

I know that the exam is still pretty far off, but it’s never too early to prepare!

During the written part of the exam, you will have roughly 12 questions which weigh 80 marks in total. Which means each question will average around 7 marks. So it would seem wise to concentrate on heavily-weighted questions (eg 8-10 marks each) because the questions in the exam would probably be a half heavily-weighted and the other half 2-3 marks each. Keep that in mind when you study.

A popular heavily weighted questions is Davidovsky’s definition of inflammation (2nd Colloq).

An Interesting Letter

“Attached, is a word document with the complete list of the 1st colloquium (pathanat) questions including their answers, cross referenced with the teacher’s answer scheme. (as you are aware, it is unfortunate that the one you prepared did not match the current 3rd year’s list of questions to study)

They are numbered accordingly as in the blue book with the hippocrates bugger on the cover. Very useful. Please put it up.

Kristof Lim”

Firstly, I’d like to say thanks to Kristof for sending me this updated sheet. However as I did not prepare it, I do not take responsibility of the accuracy of its contents. Please remember that.

I would like to see more of this type of contribution! If you happen to have taken any new photos of the preparations and would like to share them, please send them to me at adminmagicpalace@gmail.com

Happy studying!

1st Path Anat Colloq around the corner

With the 1st colloq looming, a lot of people have been asking me what they should study. I’d like to answer that here:

There are 3 parts to the colloquium.
1) Written: consisting of all the control questions which you have gone through from units 1-7
2) Microsample
3) Macrosample

To elaborate, you must study and memorise the complete description of all the slides which will be asked (I hope you know which slides are coming out!) ie microscopical description, macroscopical des., etiology, pathogenesis, clinical features etc. You will need to answer this orally. But first you need to identify the slides. You will be given 2 slides. If your teacher is Aliah Bogdanova, please be careful. Make sure you identify the slide correctly, if not, you will be going home. THINK before you answer.

That’s the hard part.

For the macrosample, you will just need to identify them, describe its colour and what you see. She will probably ask you which disease it occurs in.

You will be graded with 3 marks, one for each part, and the average is taken. Remember that if you manage to get all 5’s for colloq and attend all the lectures, its an Avtomat.

All the best!

Revised Path Anat Q&A

Currently, I have only corrected the first 2 Colloqs for the 1st Semester. I haven’t had the time to correct and re-type the rest, but rest assured that I am.

I did not correct these myself, but it was a team effort resulting from asking the teachers and researching from the handbook. Please remember not to use the older Q&A sheets, because of the wrong answers (not all but some).
